I wonder though how long the dutch gabber scene would last if Holland adopted the drug policy we have in Australia or the UK's for that matter. How many people actually die at these parties Olaf? You'd figure the body count must be huge heh. We just had a large three day open air full moon festival (rave) in Australia - 82 DJ's, 24 Bands, 10 Stages, 1 Party says the flyer - called Happy Valley. There was one death which the local media are having a field day labelling as another Ecstacy-related death with politians screaming to increase police powers to search people and close all dance parties etc etc.
Happy Valley has become an institution for the aussie dance scene - I took
part in the third one which was quite an experience but the cops still managed
to close it down even though we were having it on private property miles away
from civilization in the Australia bush! (the country - hills, grass, cows and
shit you know). The bloody media nazis hunted us down with helicopters for
fucks sake! Bastards.
The media interest started many years ago after the second happy valley where
the police decided it would be a good idea to close the party around 5 or 6am
when everybody was totally drug fucked - real smart move - "OK all you
seriously intoxicated people, get in your cars and drive three hours back to
the city! NOW!". Needless to say the police should have been charged with
manslaughter as several car loads of wasted ravers had horrific accidents with
large trucks on the highways back to civilisation.
Our friendly media of cause laid the blame on Ecstasy & not the police - the
cops have since learnt from the mistake and don't do such stupid things
anymore but the media still won't let it rest. "More deaths at Happy Valley -
when will the ecstasy nightmare end?".
The facts of the story as far as I've gathered are that this moron was
drinking large amounts of alcohol AND consuming every drug available and
hadn't slept for the entire three day period! Oh how strange, my heart, lungs,
liver and kidneys have stopped functioning - maybe I should have a rest now.
Sad, very sad, but when you consider the drug "culture" these days that
defines having a good time = massive intact of hard drugs, one death out of
many thousands of people which can be put down to shear stupidity isn't that
bad is it?
